All within an easy day trip are the amazing tides of the Bay of Fundy with some of the highest tidal movement in the World, Halifax city is around two and a half hours away along one of the most scenic routes in Nova Scotia. Closer still are the delights of Antigonish with its strong Scottish root’s and history, there are the warm sandy beaches of the Northumberland shore or a trip to Cape Breton only a few hours away to see the wonderful Cabot Trail. Take a packed lunch from the motel and spend some quality time in wonderful Guysborough County the scenic and rugged Atlantic coastline is full of history and surprise.

Based on the St Mary River which was at one time the centre for shipbuilding in North America during the 18th century before they discovered “Gold” not far from the motel you may wish to try your luck or visit where they found lots of gold in days gone by.

The river is also a very fine fishing river with Salmon being a speciality, along with the fine sea trout this area is a fishers paradise, no need to ask the Laird or landowner for permission just get your permit and bring your fishing rod.
